Sheffield totally won me over

The Kelham Island area is just cool - old industrial buildings turned into craft beer bars and independent spots. The people are dead friendly and it never felt overpriced. Really solid city break.

Great city for music lovers

Sheffield has a proper music scene and you can feel it everywhere. Caught a few live acts around the West Street area and the crowd was great every time. Prices for drinks and food are way more reasonable than London. Loved every bit of it.

Brilliant weekend away

Walked around the Peace Gardens and it was really lively for a winter afternoon. Loads of good coffee spots nearby, staff were welcoming everywhere we went. A genuinely enjoyable city that doesn't try too hard to impress - it just does.

Loved the independent food scene

The street food at Peddler Night Market was something else - so many different things to try and the quality was ace. Sheffield clearly has a lot of local talent when it comes to food. Not a chain restaurant in sight and that made it so much better.

Perfect for a quick city escape

Didn't know what to expect but Sheffield delivered. The botanical gardens are lovely even in the colder months, and the city centre is easy to get around on foot. Everything felt relaxed and unhurried. Really glad we chose it over somewhere more obvious.

Yuki T. - Tokyo, Japan - January 3, 2026

A proper northern gem

Sheffield's got this rough-around-the-edges character that makes it feel real. The Christmas market near Fargate was packed and full of good stuff - mulled wine, local crafts, decent food stalls. Crowds were friendly and it had a proper festive feel without being too commercial.
